Aida Touma-Sliman

Aida Touma-Sliman was born in Nazareth July 16, 1964.
She holds a BA. in psychology and Arabic literature from the University of Haifa. In 1992 she was Co-founder and CEO of Women Against Violence, the largest Arab women's NGO in Israel. She also was Co-founder of Al-Badeel, a coalition against honor killings, in 1993. From 1995 to 1996 she was coordinator of Engendering the Peace Process.
Before she was elected as a member of Knesset in 2015, Aida was Director-General of Women Against Violence and editor-in-chief of Al-Ittihad, an Arab-language daily newspaper .
In June 2015 she was elected to head the Knesset's Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality. Furthermore she is chair of the Lobby for the Struggle Against Racism.
