Christian Thauer

Dr. Christian Thauer, Hebrew University of Jerusalem

Christian Thauer is a political scientist and Senior Lecturer in International Relations and at the DAAD Center for German Studies. He studied at the Freie Universität Berlin, and the Yonsei University, Seoul, and holds a PhD from the European University Institute, Florence. His PhD thesis, defended in April 2010, was awarded the International Studies Association International Political Economy (ISA-IPE) Best Dissertation Prize 2010-2011. Before joining the Hebrew University, Christian was Assistant Professor at the Freie Universität Berlin (2010-2014) and Visiting Fellow at the University of Washington, Seattle (2012-2014). Christian's main research interests concern questions of business and governance. He is author of "The Managerial Sources of Corporate Social Responsibility. The Spread of Global Standards" (Cambridge University Press). The book develops a transaction cost economics, asset specificity-based argument for internal drivers of corporate social responsibility.
