Fernando Vallespin

Prof. Fernando Vallespin, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid

Fernando Vallespin holds degrees in law and political sociology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).

From 2004 to 2008 he was the Diector of the Sociological Research Center (Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas). Moreover he was chairman of the Political Science and International Relations Department and Vice-Chancellor of Culture at the UAM.

Vallespin is professor for Political Science at the UAM. Besides he is the President of the Spanish Political Science Association since 2013.

Fernando Vallespin is an expert for political ideologies, contemporary political theory, and democratic theory. He authered more then a hundred academic articles and book chapters, among them "The History of Political Theory" (Historia de la Theoría Política), "The Future of Politics" (El Futuro de la Política), and "The Neocontractualism" (El Neocontractualismo). Furthermore, he was a guest lecturer at the Universities of Harvard, Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Veracruz and Malaysia.
