Leonard Novy

Dr. Leonard Novy, Director of the Institute for Media and Communication Policy (IfM)

Leonard Novy is a political scientist and publicist. He studied history and political science at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the University of Cambridge where he also completed his doctoral thesis. From 2004 to 2005 he had a fellowship at Harvard University. Today Novy is director at the Institute for Media and Communication Policy (IfM) in Berlin. From 2006 to 2009 Novy worked at the Bertelsmann Foundation and was head of two projects on (international) governance, strategic policy-making and political communication. Later he was head of the talk formats unit at the AVE Gesellschaft für Fernsehproduktion in Berlin and director of development and research at the Institute for Human Sciences. Novy is also guest lecturer at different universities, such as the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. The subject of his frequent publications are governance, democarcy and the public, as well as the impact of the internet on politics and media.
