Ophir Pines-Paz, Avoda (Labor Party)

Ophir Pines Paz was born in 1961 in Rishon LeZion. He graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and holds a BA in International Relations and a MA in Public Policy from the Tel Aviv University. Ophir was elected in the Knesset for the Avoda for the first time in 1996. He was Member of Knesset till 2010. During his political career, he occupied several important position, for example General Secretary of the Avoda, Minister of Interior and Minister of Science, Culture and Sport.

Furthermore, he served for several Knesset committees, such as for the Foreign Affairs, Economic Affairs Commitee or the Immigration and Absorption Committee. He received multiple awards for his political work, for example the "Amitai" award for honest management and integrity, the "Ometz" Award for 2006 from Citizens for Good Governance and Social Justice and the "Government Quality Award" for 2008 from the Movement for Quality Government.
